Smoke Alarms

Are your smoke alarms working and complaint?

Smoke alarms significantly reduce the risk of death and further property damage in the event of a fire in your home or business.

EGen Electrical offers smoke alarm testing, maintenance, replacement and upgrades to meet the current QLD smoke alarm legislation ensuring the early warning of a fire.

The QLD legislation changed as of the 1st of January 2017 requiring the use of interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms to be installed in all properties.

Smoke alarms must now be installed:

  • In every bedroom

  • On each story

  • In hallways connecting bedrooms

They must also be:

  • Hardwired into the electrical supply mains where possible, where it is not possible a 10 year non removable lithium  battery must power the alarm.

  • Must be photoelectric type

  • Must have wired or wireless interconnection
